Abstract: Welcome

My series of Abstract Sky Paintings are composed of horizontal bands and blocks of colour which are evocative of the bands of colour seen in the sky.

By applying thin layers of transparent oil paint onto pure white gesso wood panels, the brilliant white of the gesso shines through giving the paint an internal luminosity, in the manner of the "Old Masters". This is contrasted with thicker paint in other areas. I try to make my paintings radiate with colour.
